Essential guide
Identify and respond to common isopod-culture mold, mites, and fungus gnats by correcting food and moisture conditions without unsafe blanket treatments.

Essential guide
Start breeding isopods by maintaining a healthy, mature colony with stable shelter, moisture, and food. No supplement can guarantee a first brood on a fixed schedule.

Essential guide
Choose a secure, accessible enclosure with enough floor area for a damp refuge and a less-wet zone. Adjust ventilation to the species and your room.

Essential guide
Isopod lifespan depends on species and conditions. Published accounts for Armadillidium vulgare differ; a lasting colony is not proof that its original adults are still alive.

Essential guide
Build an isopod terrarium around usable substrate, leaf cover, a moisture gradient, and maintenance access. Plants and cleanup crews do not make it self-cleaning.
